In the last weeks I’ve been using this crafted prayer to hit the target of Religious Spirit. It’s been powerful. I don’t have a lot to share because I’m still learning. I would love to hear what you have learned about Religious Spirit. This is what I know.
- If your spirit is not connected to the Holy Spirit, your spirit grieves. I heard this from Michael Regier during his conference called RISK Soul Health Leadership Bootcamp 1.0
- Religious Spirit has two main goals:

- To block the work of the Holy Spirit
- To stump the development of the fruit of the Spirit
One sign of Christian maturity is the fruit of the Spirit — which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Reflect for a moment on the opposite spirit, the opposite of the fruit of the Spirit: apathy, despair, strife/violence, impatience, unkindness, viciousness, faithlessness/unfaithfulness, anger/fury, no self-control. We see way too much of this in the world and the church.
Perhaps this crafted prayer is a tool that will help you go deeper in the Spirit. (The blank line denotes the place that you insert your name or the name of the person for whom you pray.)
Crafted Prayer | Religious Spirit Prayer
In Jesus’ name, I cut off Religious spirits from all communication and help from Satan and demons in the life of _______. I cut off Religious spirits from all communication and help from Murder/Violence, Death, Mind Control, Jezebel, Witchcraft, Antichrist, Pride/Leviathan/Python, Oppression, Infirmity/Illness, Wicked, Nefarious Spirits, Vicious spirits and spirits of Fury and Rage.
In Jesus’ name, I cut off any attack on ______’s spirit and soul. I bind spirits of Religiosity and I cut off attacks to distract (me/him/her). In Jesus’ name, I cut off all the works of the devil that block the work of the Holy Spirit. I cut off all the works of the devil that block _____ from waking up.
I cast down ______’s imaginations and every lofty thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. I take captive every thought of ______ and make it obedient to Jesus Christ. I nail to the cross every projected thought and feeling being sent to ______ from Religious Spirits including feelings that they don’t measure up, feelings of inadequacy, needing to be perfect, to perform and to please.
Jesus, I pray for your presence to increase: Increase awareness, sensitivity, encounter with Holy Spirit. I ask you Holy Spirit to pour out your unconditional love on _____’s heart and life.
I release the increase of love , joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control.
